On this, the weekend where 100 years ago the men of the GPO hung out the flag of war, its interesting to think that a lot of us may not have been having the luxury of a leisurely round of golf if those tentative steps to independence had not been taken. With many of our numbers descending on Croke Park, a few of our own Laochra (or just those with no interest in GAA i.e. Dubs, Meath members) took to the fairways for the opportunity to see their names in lights in the winners enclosure. First again this week was a name that Im writing a lot lately with Peter Foran (60 nett, not age) coming out as the winner, narrowly pipping Liam Murphy (61 nett) into second place. Congrats Peter, I like the cut of your jib young man, and the cut we will make to your handicap.
